Cannes Yachting Festival: Events within the Event!

On the occasion of the 42nd edition and the opening of the Port Canto Sailing Area, which will host 120 new sailing boats, monohulls and multihulls from 10 metres and upwards, and 80 exhibitors, the Yachting Festival will showcase sailing in all its diversity and wealth. For six days, from 10 to 15 September, VIPs from the world of sailing will crowd the docks of the Yachting Festival and sailing events will be held every day for the delight of enthusiasts!

Isabelle Autissier Yachting Festival Guest of Honour “A sailor to the bone, Isabelle Autissier is an exceptional navigator and a fervent activist for the protection of the oceans and biodiversity. Currently President of WWF France, Isabelle Autissier will come to the Yachting Festival to talk about WWF’s work for the protection of the Mediterranean and raise awareness to improve our impact on the environment. We are very happy and honoured to welcome her to the show for the first time”, Sylvie Ernoult, Director of the Yachting Festival, tells us.

Armel Le Cléac’h Ambassador, Yachting Festival “We are very proud to welcome Armel to the Yachting Festival for a second time. Armel was with us to celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2017 and we welcome him again on the occasion of the new Sailing Area. We couldn’t dream of having a better ambassador than this formidable offshore racing sailor!” says Sylvie Ernoult.

LA REGATA CANNES

Cannes Yachting Festival: Events within the Event! the Yachting Festival will showcase sailing in all its diversity and wealth!

To celebrate the opening of the new Sailing Area in Port Canto, the 2019 edition of the Yachting Festival is marked by the creation of La Regata with the logistical support of the Cannes Yacht Club. On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 September, 5 teams will compete in the bay of Cannes on the multihulls of the Tour Voile a 4-round competition. A few newbies or enthusiasts selected in a daily draw will be able to take part as crew members on one of the regatta boats.

ENERGY OBSERVER

The Energy Observer exhibition will stop in the Yachting Festival.

Starting as the hull of a legendary racing boat on which Peter Blake won the Jules Verne Trophy in 1993, Energy Observer has been transformed into an electrically-powered ship of the future, running on a mix of renewable energies and a carbonfree hydrogen production system that is seawater-based. Energy Observer travels the world on a planned odyssey of 50 countries and 101 stopovers!

Concours d’Élégance:

The 5th edition will take place on Saturday 14 September at 4 pm on the Festival beach at the Vieux Port. A unique selection of day-boats up to 12 metres, with their captains at the helm accompanied by their elegant crews, will parade under the admiring eyes of enthusiasts and the more watchful ones of a jury of experts.

The super-catamarans regatta

On the eve of the final stage in Marseille of the international SailGP circuit, which will take place from 20 to 22 September, Stéphanie Nadin, Manager of the Marseille event, will present this exceptional championship to the press and exhibitors on Tuesday 10 September.
