Šolta, 18.10.2024.
On Tuesday, Martinis Marchi Marina, awarded as the best small marina in Croatia, traditionally and uniquely marked the end of a successful season with an exciting sailing challenge and a gathering—the Sailing Challenge—and an important eco-initiative to clean up the seabed in Maslinica harbor.
Each year, Martinis Marchi brings together representatives of top local charter companies, numerous partners, divers, sea and underwater enthusiasts, and locals to thank them for a great collaboration over the tourist season. It’s also an excellent chance for the hosts to express appreciation to their long-time partners, Trogir Diving Center and Leomar Diving Center from Šolta. These partners, with help from marina sailors, locals, the Maslinica Sport Fishing Association, and the Basilija Municipal Society, diligently clean the seabed around Martinis Marchi Marina and Maslinica at the beginning and end of each season.
Even though the Sailing Challenge is a fun event, there’s no lack of competitive spirit. All teams prepare with enthusiasm in the morning as they gather for this exciting event, ready for sailing, socializing, and enjoying a beautiful, almost summer-like day.
Participants, along with support boats carrying partners, property employees, and locals, enjoyed an interesting route around the beautiful islands off Maslinica. With a total distance of about 6 nautical miles and perfect conditions for sailing, it took just one hour of serious sailing for the first team to cross the finish line. This year, the team from Orvas Yachting claimed the win.
After the challenge, the gathering continued on the terrace of the Martinis Marchi Restaurant with a generous spread and a variety of other prizes. Martinis Marchi awarded not only the top team but also teams with the most women, the most persistent, and the most cheerful. Those who didn’t have luck in the sporting challenge tried their hand at the ever-popular lottery, with prizes including a night’s stay at the heritage Martinis Marchi castle, dinner at the restaurant, or a berth in this award-winning marina.
The evening wrapped up with traditional local music from the Sotto Voce klapa. DJ Dado joined the lively atmosphere, and the cheerful gathering continued well into the night. This is exactly why this small fishing village on the island of Šolta holds a special place in the hearts of so many food and wine lovers, making it a beloved destination for both tourists and local guests. The Martinis Marchi team ensures that everyone always feels at home here.
